VIRTUOZ MUSIC WITHOUT BOUNDARIES Eugene Sokolovsky
A little more than a hundred years ago, the famous poet said that if the stars are lit, then someone needs this. Interpreting Vladimir Mayakovsky, we can say with confidence that the modern viewer or listener was just waiting for such a star – filled with new meaning, emotions, ideas, fresh perception of musical art that knows no boundaries and stereotypes. That is why Evgeni Sokolovsky appeared in the creative horizon. He says that he always dreamed of creating new melodic and airy piano music, saturated with bright colors, emotions, dizzying turns to match the new time, to convey his feelings and in each new composition to give people a whole world of emotions.
To music through gymnastics
Eugene’s childhood and youth passed in Kazakhstan. There he was born on February 5, 1985 in the city of Pavlodar. The family already had one son, the elder brother of Eugene, Sergey, and later the younger sister, Daria, appeared.
At the age of three, Zhenya was taken to gymnastics school. A talented boy showed brilliant results, participated in competitions and won, and then suddenly, at age 11, the sound of music captured his heart. With his brother and friends, the performer Evgeny Sokolovskiy organized a group where Evgeny was honored to be a keyboard player. Father helped them write poems, put them to music and perform these songs at school concerts and holiday events in Pavlodar. The popularity of the group locally was incredible, the whole city knew about the collective.
It is worth noting the role of parents in the creative development of Evgeny Sokolovsky. They believed in his talent and made every effort to ensure that his son took a worthy place in the world of art. Father not only always encouraged Eugene to music, but also helped develop professionally – he bought him modern instruments, and was also the first critic of his creations. Eugene> several times tried to move away from the music, but by some miracle it returned it and did not let it go.
Craving for the art of composition
Sokolovsky experienced a real passion for the piano itself. The first love of the instrument happened in kindergarten, but it did not work out from an early age to go to music school. He entered there only at the age of eleven, and even then the boy was taken without much desire, because in January, when he arrived, the set of children was long over. Eugene was admitted to a paid evening department, where he very quickly proved that music was his calling. In just six months, he mastered the program of two classes of music school and in September immediately moved to the third grade of free full-time education. At a very young age, he presented three recitals with a different program to the audience. A little later, he became a laureate of city, regional and republican competitions. Already in those years, Eugene realized that he would forever connect his life with music.

Interestingly, he began to develop improvisation and composing skills almost immediately as he sat down at an instrument in a music school. At first, these were simple plays, but after a few years, Eugene began to create works for two grand pianos and perform them with his teacher. The appearance of the synthesizer played a significant role in the creative fate of Sokolovsky. He began to try to compose arrangements using the simplest synthesizers. Perhaps this was the main guarantee of the then popularity of the musical group in his hometown.
New country – new achievements
Once, Eugene Sokolovsky was presented with the disk of the famous French pianist and arranger Richard Klaiderman. He was very surprised by the tracks he heard, classical works in modern processing impressed Eugene. Such an innovative format perfectly suited the spirit of the times. The young musician wrote his arrangements to all tracks from the disc and played at a recital in a music school. At the age of 15, Eugene already made arrangements for classical and other works, so after graduation no choice between composition and performing skills arose.
In 2001, the whole family of Evgeny Sokolovsky decided to move from Kazakhstan to Russia. For this, the city of Tver was chosen. There, Eugene passed the entrance exams brilliantly, hitting the admissions committee of the Tver School of Music with his piano transcriptions of the violin works of the Four Seasons cycle by Antonio Vivaldi. With his teacher-mentor Tamara Shlyapnikova, the musician began a new stage in both life and work. Eugene plunged into study with his head, so 4 years passed in the same breath. He succeeded in declaring himself quickly and loudly in a new country. Sokolovsky-student three times became a laureate of the contest “Young talents of the Tver region”, he was awarded a governor’s scholarship and became a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture.
